Religion is the belief in and worship of a god or gods, or in general a set of beliefs explaining the existence of and giving meaning to the universe, usually involving devotional and ritual observances, and often containing a moral code governing the conduct of human affairs. Aspects of religion include narrative, symbolism, beliefs, and practices that are supposed to give meaning to the practitioner's experiences of life. Whether the meaning centers on a deity or deities, or an ultimate truth, religion is commonly identified by the practitioner's prayer, ritual, meditation, music and art, among other things, and is often interwoven with society and politics. It may focus on specific supernatural, metaphysical, and moral claims about reality (the cosmos and human nature) which may yield a set of religious laws and ethics and a particular lifestyle. Religion also encompasses ancestral or cultural traditions, writings, history, and mythology, as well as personal faith and religious experience. The development of religion has taken many forms in various cultures, with continental differences. The term "religion" refers both to the personal practices related to communal faith and to group rituals and communication stemming from shared conviction. "Religion" is sometimes used interchangeably with "faith" or "belief system", but it is more socially defined than personal convictions, and it entails specific behaviors, respectively. Religion is often described as a communal system for the coherence of belief focusing on a system of thought, unseen being, person, or object, that is considered to be supernatural, sacred, divine, or of the highest truth. Moral codes, practices, values, institutions, tradition, rituals, and scriptures are often traditionally associated with the core belief, and these may have some overlap with concepts in secular philosophy. Religion is also often described as a "way of life" or a life stance. From Wikipedia under the
GNU Free Documentation License Why does every religion believe only they will go to heaven while all others wont? Q. Why do these Christians keep believing that the only way to get to heaven is through Jesus? Thats just one particular fictional character for that religion. Every other religion has some other idea that they will go to heaven and everyone else who doesnt follow them will go to hell. What makes every religion believe only theirs is right while all others are wrong? Its just a mere accident at birth that you were this religion. Which belief could be right and which is wrong? I dont get how people could continue to believe in this while all the other religions are against them. Asked by Scott - Mon Jun 29 23:51:40 2009 - - 12 Answers - 8 Comments A. Most people like to hear that they are right, and they like to see themselves as superior. This is unfortunately one of the traits left over from the caveman days, a type of survival. Therefore, I believe that regarding religion, people like to see themselves as right in their beliefs, but since most religions have the same basic principles, there is no wrong one. Each person must just make that decision themselves as to what they want to believe, in a more powerful being, or not. As to the Heaven vs. Hell thing, it is considered to be the ultimate paradise to go to heaven, whereas Hell is the punishment. People just like to see other suffer while they triumph. Like I said, not in a sleazy way; in a nudist colony, or in fine art. In non-sexual situations. What does your religion think of it all? Is the human body something to be celebrated and admired in all it's fleshy glory? Or is nudity a representative of sexual desire and immoral sexual acts? Please let me know which religion/non religion you are part of when you answer, so I get a clearer idea of people's thoughts on the subject. I am not religious, but I am spiratual, and I have always had an "anything goes... try it at least once//don't knock it until you've tried it" attitude for many things in my life. I have been to a nudist spa/sauna, and it was not bad at all. I know that other Muslims will give me a "brother you should never show your privates to anyone" lecture, but for me, I learned much about nudity. Just as in Islam some women choose to wear the hijab--head covering, nudity got me a better understanding more about modesty and for seeing people past their beauty. Thank you Muslims & Islam and also thank you to Nudists. Q. Why did religion play such an important part in peoples lives in the middle ages and the reformation? Why did people find religion so important and why did it play such an important part in peoples lives? Asked by Help - Sun Oct 18 16:02:58 2009 - - 8 Answers - 0 Comments A. Religion has always been important because it answers what was or is not answerable with the then or now knowledge. All that has to be said is "It's God's Will" and as far as any religion is concerned there is nothing to argue about. If they were all banned as the total farces that they are then the human race might start actually advancing at the rate it should do.
