From Wiktionary under the GNU Free Documentation License. Central Europe is the region lying between the variously defined areas of Eastern and Western Europe. The term and widespread interest in the region itself came back into fashion after the end of the Cold War, which, along with the Iron Curtain, had divided Europe politically into East and West, splitting Central Europe in half. The concept of Central Europe, and that of a common identity, is somewhat elusive. However, scholars assert that a distinct "Central European culture, as controversial and debated the notion may be, exists." It is based on "similarities emanating from historical, social and cultural characteristics", and it is identified as having been "one of the world's richest sources of creative talent" between the 17th and 20th centuries. A UN paper employs 8 factors "to define a cultural region called 'Central Europe'". Cross Currents: A Yearbook of Central European Culture characterized "Central Europe as an abandoned West or a place where East and West collide". As of the 2000's, Central Europe is going through a phase of "strategic awakening". From Wikipedia under the

Q. I am looking for a good quality, reasonable place to get posters, calendars, and 8x11 or larger prints done, saleable quality. I am in Ljubljana, but printing here can be pricey.Any suggestions, like Hungary, Czech, Poland, Italy, or how about getting them done overseas and shipped? Would the cost of shipping offest the savings? I would go to Croatia, Bosnia, Serbia, etc, but do not know how the Schengen agreement affects bringing commercial supplies or products across the borders. thanks! Asked by all-knowing "1" - Tue Feb 19 19:08:22 2008 - - 2 Answers - 0 Comments A. Coming to Serbia to do that would not be directly related to the Schengen agreement, because you'd just be paying the cost of customs, like in any other commercial exchange of goods over the borders. Shipping them overseas would be more expensive, because you'd have the customs anyway, plus the postage. Printing in either Serbia, Croatia or Bosnia would definitely be less pricey than in Slovenia. You just have to calculate if the cost+customs there is lower than the price offered locally.
