Did you know that Irish Travellers cause problems for Roma Gypsies too?
Q. It is true, they theive and leave a mess, WE get the blame. We Roma Gypsies also suffer at the hands of the Irish travellers, they cause us to get into many fights with them, so we do not mix with them, did anyone know that Roma Gypsies of the U.K are now housed and no longer travel? what you see today is Irish, not Roma. Anyone know this?

A. I knew that they were different and caused troubles one for another. I also know that most Roma are trying to disassociate themselves from travellers of all sorts. I hope Roma do not loose their identity and the respect most knowledgeable people have for them.

The forced sterilization of Roma Gypsies in Slovakia, wrong?
Q. The sterilization law was bought about by Hitler's regime of hate, both Jews and Gypsies were subject to this terrible edict, it still continues today in Slovakia and the Czech Republic, what are your views on this terrible pogrom?
Asked by unknown - Sat Apr 11 06:47:00 2009 - - 5 Answers - 0 Comments
A. it's propaganda... there are no pendant laws from WWII protectorate. second, there were NO forced sterilisations in the last decade. These are misinterpreted claims of certain Gypsy females, who underwent the !medically required sterilisation! or, sometimes MISunderstood the meaning of neutering. No one commits genocide on gypsies today, not in Czech republic nor in Slovakia. Apart from that, what's wrong with neutering a female that constantly produces new offsprings that end up either in the streets or in the goverment social networks... i call this exploiting the state, and i would support forced sterilisation of ANYONE who constantly demonstrates lack of ability to grow up his/her children.

When did gypsies (Roma) come to the US?
Q. I heard that they came in the early days of the country and I was suspecting some of my ancestry to be Roma, this is why One of my ancestors was named Eli H Vincent and his daughter was Bashaba Belle Vincent. I also have another ancestor named Asineth, how can I find what they were?
Asked by David K - Thu Apr 3 11:03:33 2008 - - 3 Answers - 0 Comments
A. According to Wikipedia, the first Roma arrived in North America in the early 19th century; then in the middle of that century larger numbers began arriving, mostly from Eastern Europe. However, according to the same article, they have been in England and Scotland since as early as the 16th century (even recorded as early as 1492 in Scotland), and the fact that your ancestor had an English-seeming name might indicate that he came from Great Britain, in which case he or his family could have comehere earlier and not been identified as Roma.

A. It's not as bad as it used to be, because the Italians have begun to attack them, so they don't come out as much unless they have to. Years ago a group of young ones surrounded me begging and tried to go into my bag. When I caught on to what they were up to, I took my very heavy bag and started to swing it at them and they ran. The sad thing was that grown Italian men were standing there watching and didn't do a thing. A. The Roma gypsies have a great influence on arts in Europe, with Roma fortune tellers, dancing bears, and caravans. Many Roma work as musicians and entertainers, and have had a strong influence in music. Musical traditions still flourish in much of Eastern Europe, especially Romania, Bulgaria, and Slovakia. However, the Roma gypsies also have occupations in blacksmitthing, metal work, trading, peddling, fortune telling and healing, and crafts.

A. why should the church encourage them??? The Pope only says what he's expected to say, which is that we have to help poor countries and poor emigrants, but that's all. anyway yes, gypsies are a social plague, but not only because they steal and disturb tourists and locals, but mainly because they hunger their children until they look like concentration camps survivors and then send them to beg, in order to impress people and to obtain more money. It's a real shame, and the authorities can't help but watch.

I can say that "I am God" and I can claim that "I am the Messiah". In Ireland, the Protestant and Roman Catholics had been killing each other for hundreds of years. And both the Protestants and Roman Catholics tried and kill her people too. Does this behaviour of the Protestants and Roman Catholics in Ireland resemble true Christianity? No wonder my wife's people didn't become Christians, in fact, her people have long kept apart from any form of Christianity. When my wife and I got together we had a lot of talking to do since our marriage was prearranged and we had a lot of catching up to do! One of the main topics… [cont.]

Q. Recently Madonna was booed at on stage for telling Romanians not to persecute Gypsies. Afterwards Jewish and Hindu Leaders rushed out to support the singer, condemning the hate of Gypsies across Europe. I am Roma and I just cannot for the life of me find logical reason why the Christian Church should be exempt from condemning hate of human beings. I can say that "I am God" and I can claim that "I am the Messiah". Talk is cheap, just because I have said this does not mean its true, the same can be said with the Christian Church when it says "We care for Roma Human Rights" but does very little to further our cause. Unfortunately the Christian Church as remained silent and evasive, permissive even, if Jewish leaders and Jews themselves can… [cont.]

A. Dear Imanuel, I hear you since I have made similar observations as you have. Take this story as an example. My wife is from Ireland and she is part Pavee (Irish Traveller) and part Roma.

America, would you openly support a European Holocaust on Roma Gypsies?
Q. As I am a Gypsy, the recent events in all over Europe has caused me great concern for my family, as I too in England face discrimination on a daily basis, I am not a coward, but I am frightened, I believe I have the right to be. The rise of Neo Nazism in European cities as increased dramatically, with attacks on Roma and Jews becoming the norm and overlooked by city leaders and politicians. I just would like to know, would America openly support Europe if another Holocaust befell the Roma? I ask this because of America's strong link with Europe, although I KNOW Americans would NOT actively take part, would the U.S show support for Europe should the unthinkable happen to us, as not to jeopardize their relation with Europe? You may see I am… [cont.]

In what ways would Conservative policy effect Gypsies?
Q. I'm not talking about Irish Travellers. I am talking about Roma Gypsies who are majority house dwellers. Will the abolishment of the "Human Rights Act" have an effect on them too that are sedentary? As a Roma Gypsy I am worried that this will strip us of our rights when trying to get justice for slander, racism and hate crimes targeted toward my community. What do you think?

I am interested to know what positive things you think of Gypsies?
Q. As I am Roma, I think it would be nice to hear a positive side to the thoughts of others concerning us as Roma Gypsies (not Irish travellers) and before you comment please remember all Roma are now in houses, Irish are the ones leaving the rubbish and trouble, which I may add, we Roma too find them ignorant, so please keep comments on Roma NOT irish tinkers.

A. Uh, don't hate on the irish travellers. Being of roma and irish traveller descent, I have family of both sides. Both are respectful and contributing members of society. I am roma but i do not find irish travellers ignorant.
